Richard O’Brien has been involved in “all things internet” from when the whole “internet-concept” was still very new in South Africa (back in the early 90′s), when browsing was done with a text-based browser (Lynx) and dialing up was done with a state-of-the-art 2400bps analogue modem!

When most people were still thinking of the Internet in terms of massive directories of information, Richard O’Brien was creating interactive sites – now comonly known as web-based applications (or Web 2.0). His style has always been visionary, developing applications that when complete would leverage technology not presently available. For example, Online Management System – formerly known as Contract Management System – a global point-of-sale / contract management system developed for Mobile Telephone Networks (MTN) South Africa which would enable all the independent dealers to be able to manage their business online and in real-time, was initiated before broadband was even available in SA.
